Urien is a British noble male given name (also Urian, Uryen, Uren). It is presumably derived from British Urbgen. It is recorded in 1273 in The Hundred Rolls of Huntingdonshire In the modern period, it also occurs as a surname, as Urian. Geoffrey of Monmouth Latinizes the name as Urbianus (in reference to the semi-legendary British king Urien).

In early modern Germany, the name Urian (Herr Urian, Meister Urian) becomes associated with the devil (so in Walpurgisnacht, Goethe's Faust).
