Upperton is a village in North Lanarkshire, Scotland, near Airdrie and Cumbernauld, about 20 miles (32 km) north-east of Glasgow. It was formerly a part the neighbouring village of Longriggend.

Until recently it was a site of a large remand camp, which is now closed, and was inhabited mainly by the prison service workers. After the camp's closure it was settled by new inhabitants and the new name was given to eliminate associations with the camp.

Wind farm

The construction of a 9 turbine wind farm is currently underway on the outskirts of the town at Greendykeside, near Longriggend. At present, 2 wind turbines have been erected.

Transportation

Upperton has a bus connection with Airdrie.
