The Upper Court of Justice of Castile and Leon, is an organ of the Judicial Power of Spain whose main purpose is to exert the jurisdiction, this is, resolve disputes with efficiency of thing judged, in the territory of the autonomous community of Castile and Leon.

It reaches to all his territorial field, in the civil orders, penal, contentious-administrative and social, without prejudice to the competitions that correspond to the High court. Also it has entrusted the resolution of the questions of competition that pose between judicial organs in Castile and Leon.

His organisation, competitions and operation regulate in the Organic Law 6/1985, of 1 July, of the Judicial Power, and his diverse modifications.

His headquarters finds in the city of Burgos, although, some rooms of the social and contentious orders-administrative situate in Valladolid.

The President of this court will be appointed by the King, to proposal of the General Council of the Judicial Power. In the actuality occupies this charge José Luis Concepción.

Headquarters

The headquarters of the Upper Court of Justice of Castile and Leon has been situated since starts in the historical building of 1833 known as Palace of Justice of the Island in the city of Burgos.

During the works of rehabilitation and modernisation of said historical building the headquarters moved temporarily to the building of courts of the street San Juan, number 2, that at present is the civic centre of San Juan.

In 2012, it inaugurated the renewed headquarters, after the rehabilitation of the Palace of Justice of Burgos, situated in the Walk of the Audience, in full historical centre of the city.

It shares the building with the Provincial Audience of Boroughs.
