The University of Mumbai (known earlier as University of Bombay) is one of the oldest and premier Universities in India. It was established in 1857 consequent upon "Wood's Education Dispatch", and it is one amongst the first three Universities in India. As a sequel to the change in the name of the city from Bombay to Mumbai, the name of the University has been changed from "University of Bombay" to "University of Mumbai", vide notification issued by the Government of Maharashtra and published in the Government Gazette dated 4 September 1996.

The Thane Sub Campus of the University of Mumbai which was inaugurated by the hands of former Vice Chancellor Dr Rajan Welukar, became operational from the year 2014. University of Mumbai, Thane Sub Campus (MUTC) is sub campus of University of Mumbai which under takes School of Law, University of Mumbai which offers five years Integrated programme in Legal Education BBA-LLB(Hons.) and School of Management Studies which offers five years Integrated Management Programme BMS-MBA. The Campus also houses Institute of Distance & Open Learning at is 2nd floor for various undergraduate and post graduate courses as well as diploma courses.

  • B.M.S.-M.B.A. is Five-years Integrated course is an excellent program offering graduation and post graduation in the domain of Management.

  • B.B.A.-LL.B. (Hons.) offers a great combination of Management and Law domains together during graduation and post graduation. They are spread across five academic years.

    The admission to the undergraduate courses at Thane Sub Campus based on All India Merit Rank of MH CET(Law) for Integrated Law Programme and Mumbai University Commom Management Entrance Test (MUCMET) for Integrated Management Programme.

    Cultural Festival and Annual Utsav

    The University of Mumbai, Thane Sub Campus organises its own cultural festival as well as annual utsav "Khwaish". It consists of youth oriented events and is organised and managed by the students. It has participation from several colleges and encourages students to showcase their talent on a bigger platform. There are more than thirty events, cultural and academic.

    Infrastructure

    The College was built on a budget of 3 crore Rupees. The building is situated at the newly built sprawling 6.5 acre University of Mumbai Campus in Thane, in a peaceful and serene environment. The Campus is housed in a modern tech-savvy building with spacious work environments. The current building has 13 classrooms, which are sufficient for the courses conducted and hence it has approved a tender for a hostel to be built adjacent to the building. The Campus has its own power backup and has bus facility to Railway Station.
