Unione (/uˈnjone/) is one of the four canonical painting modes of the Renaissance, along with sfumato, chiaroscuro, and cangiante. Unione is similar to sfumato, but maintains vibrant colors.
Unione was developed by Raphael as a response to Leonardo da Vinci's sfumato.
