Union Councils are part of local government system in all four provinces of Pakistan. In Pakistan the local government is the third level of government apart from the Provincial and Federal governments.A union council is a geographical region of a tehsil used for administrative or other purposes.It is headed by a Union Council Nazim, each union council has 13 elected members or councilors. In addition to four male and two female members elected directly, there are two male and two female representatives of the labor, a minority member, a Union Nazim and his deputy known as Union Naib Nazim. Beside elected members, there are many other government employees working in every union council, who report to the Secretary of the Union Council.Secretary of the Union Council is a civil servant appointed by the state. The territory of a Union Council or Village Council is usually part of a Tehsil (County). Less commonly, a Union Council may be part of a City District.

Following is the list of the union councils of Peshawar.District Peshawar is divided in 4 Towns(Tehsils), which are further sub-divided in 93 Union Councils.Each Union Council have elected Nazim.Nazim is accompanied by Naib Nazim as his Deputy.
