Ulysses /juːˈlɪsiːz/ is the Latinized version of Odysseus. The name was made famous by the American Civil War hero and eighteenth president of the United States, Ulysses S. Grant, by James Joyce's novel Ulysses, and the film of the same name.
"Ulysses" is best known as the name of Ulysses S. Grant (1822–1885), the U.S. Army general and President of the United States. Many Americans born during or after the Civil War were named in his honour.
