The Field Elm cultivar Ulmus minor 'Microphylla Pendula' was first listed by Kirchner[1], in Petzold[2]& Kirchner Arboretum Muscaviense 561, 1864, as Ulmus microphylla pendula . A tree growing under that name at Kew was classed as a nothomorph of Ulmus minor 'Sarniensis' by Melville.

Cultivation

Only one specimen is known to survive, at the RBG Wakehurst Place, where it is cultivated as a hedging plant to keep it free from the attentions of the Scolytus beetles which act as vectors of Dutch elm disease.
