Uji tea

Uji tea (宇治茶, Uji-cha) is a type of green tea leaves produced mainly in the Uji, Kyoto.

Uji-chashi was transported in a special ceremony to the shogun in Edo every year for over 200 times until the Meiji era.

There are efforts to inscribe Uji tea into the list of Intangible cultural heritage.
