Professional background

Singh completed his undergraduate studies at the Indian Institute of Technology in Kanpur, India, with a bachelor’s degree in technology. He subsequently received graduate degrees in water resources from Clemson University and in environmental engineering from the University of Florida. He then joined CH2M HILL as a water resources engineer. Singh was a founding member of EWRI at its inception in 1999. Dr. Singh’s work on the feasibility of deep well disposal of treated waste water effluent was the basis for setting up the largest deep well injection facility in the US during the late 1970s. Currently, the same technology is being pilot tested by the USA and some European countries to capture and store carbon dioxide in deep geological formations, as an option for mitigating global climate change. Dr. Singh joined CH2M HILL in 1974 and has progressed through various positions to his current rank as Vice President of its Environmental Business Group. Dr. Udai P. Singh was conferred the Distinguished Alumnus Award of IIT Kanpur for his outstanding contributions to environmental and Civil Engineering.
