The first USS Murray (SP-1438) was a motorboat that served as a United States Navy patrol boat from 1917 to 1918.

Murray was built as a civilian motorboat in 1915 by Chance Marine Construction Company at Annapolis, Maryland, for the Conservation Commission of Maryland. She was loaned to the U.S. Navy for World War I service and was ordered delivered to the Navy on 17 August 1917.

Commissioned as USS Murray (SP-1438), she served on patrol in the 5th Naval District for the rest of the war. She was returned to the Conservation Commission on 26 November 1918.
