It is classified as a Mira variable, and varies from an apparent visual magnitude of 8.9 at maximum brightness to a magnitude of 15.0 at minimum brightness, with a period of approximately 347 days. It was first observed to be variable by Thomas D. Anderson during 1894 and 1895.
