The name Vinta has been used in the Philippines by PAGASA in the Western Pacific. It was named after the Mindanao's famous Vinta (locally known as lepa-lepa or sakayan).

  • Typhoon Nida (2009) (T0922, 26W, Vinta) – Powerful Category 5 super typhoon that formed within a monsoon trough 545 miles southeast of Guam in late November and reached peak winds of 185 mph (300 km/h)
  • Typhoon Krosa (2013) (T1329, 29W, Vinta) – struck the Philippines.
