Twist and Shout is the second single from the album Fellow Hoodlums by the Scottish rock band Deacon Blue.

Contents

"Twist and Shout"'s unusual and catchy combination of pop and Cajun zydeco, propelled the single into the UK top 10.

Title

"Twist and Shout" is not the same song made famous by the Topnotes, The Isley Brothers, and the Beatles. However, the 12" single of Deacon Blue's release, perhaps in a nod to the common name, contains a live cover of the Beatles' "I'm Down". Additionally, towards the end of this song, the lyrics; "Come on, come on baby" and "Work it all out" can be heard, quite similar to how they are sung in the other "Twist and Shout".

Release

The single's primary B-sides is the song "Good". Some versions of the single include an additional B-side entitled "Golden Bells".
