During the 1980s Tulane Green Wave, the American football team representing Tulane University in New Orleans, had as successive head coaches Vince Gibson, Wally English, Mack Brown and Greg Davis. The team had more losses than wins in most seasons in that decade, the only exceptions being 1980, 1981 and 1987.

The 1980 Tulane Green Wave football team was led by first-year coach Vince Gibson. The Green Wave finished with a 7–5 record, losing to Arkansas 15–34 in the Hall of Fame Classic. In the 78th edition of the Battle for the Flag, Tulane lost 7–24 to LSU.
