TrueHoop is a blog which covers the sport of basketball, primarily the National Basketball Association. The blog, which has been in operation since May 15, 2005, was one of several blogs honored with the 2005 "Best of the Web award" issued by Forbes magazine The site has linked to or been referenced by many notable publications and organizations, including NBA.com, LATimes.com, and CNN/SI.com, and has been praised by notable sports columnists such as Chad Ford and Chris Sheridan. The site has been noted for its investigations into the affairs of William Wesley, a noted (and somewhat controversial) NBA facilitator.

TrueHoop is written by Henry Abbott, a sportswriter, journalist, and stand-up comedian, originally from Portland, Oregon who now lives in New Jersey. Abbott has written more than a dozen cover stories, more than a hundred feature articles, a regular column, and is published in such sources as: The Onion, the official NBA Finals program, Inside Stuff, HOOP, and Men's Journal. Abbott is a founding partner (along with his wife) in Gekko Productions, a media company which writes creative copy for blogs, advertisements, and speeches, and other language-based media. He graduated with a degree in journalism from New York University.

On February, 2007, it was announced that TrueHoop was purchased by ESPN. ESPN later expanded TrueHoop to a blog network, consisting of many contributors and blogs. Abbott correctly predicted Pau Gasol would be traded to the Los Angeles Lakers a few hours before the actual trade happened.

In addition to the blog, there is a "TruehoopTV" category of video and podcast content pioneered by Super-producer Jade Hoye. Hoye puts various teams of contributors together to discuss current events in and around basketball, curating which contributors to have on depending on the specific subject matters. The content not only offers intellectual basketball analysis, but also provides polarizing and stimulating insights, encouraging its audience to think and engage with the team.
