New Casino
So far, PEN has operated a riverboat casino, but when a new facility is built and opened, the right to operate is transferred here.
The casino is expected to cost around $185 million. Once completed, it will anchor the new local commercial and residential hub, the Rock Run Collection.
The new facility will be near Interstate 80 and Interstate 55 interchange in Joliet, Illinois. Considering that about 230,000 vehicles pass through the interchange every day, it is not surprising that PEN chose this location for the new facility.

The casino will feature around 850 slots and 44 live table games. Fans of various forms of gambling will find something for themselves here, including baccarat, retail sportsbooks, and more. There will also be other amenities such as bars and restaurants, as well as a massive event center that will be deployed over 10,000 square feet. PENN expects to provide 450 people with construction jobs and 515 permanent jobs at new casinos. That's 150 more people than are currently employed at the Joliet facility.

In 2019, a new law allowed riverboat casinos to move on land. However, the old Hollywood casino Joliet, currently located in Death Plain, will continue to operate until the completion of the new land-based casino. The construction work is expected to take about 24 months.

Many important people in the industry are invited to the groundbreaking ceremony, including the Illinois Gaming Board, the Illinois General Assembly, the mayor, the City Council and various local stakeholders and labor organizations.
The new casino is part of a huge project that will include Aurora, Illinois, USA, Columbus, Ohio, as well as a casino in Henderson, Nevada.
