The Wheeling Island Racetrack and Game Center recently announced that it will open its doors for a new $67 million expansion on Thursday, June 26.
In addition to the 660-seat showroom, the expansion project includes 570 slot machines, a 151-room deluxe hotel, a fine dining restaurant, a casual restaurant, a food court, and two additional lounges. The multipurpose showroom and the new conference center are expected to further enhance the entertainment and conference features of Wheeling Island. To accommodate visitors to the new facility, the parking space is being expanded to a total of 2,800, including 180 covered spaces.
"We're looking forward to opening on schedule, on budget, and on June 26," said Scott Cooper, president of Wheeling Island. "We're taking the entertainment experience to a whole new level for local game lovers in the three states."
This expansion adds 300,000 new square feet of amenities to Wheeling Island, including 85,000 square feet of hotels, 35,000 square feet of gaming, 8,500 square feet of showrooms and 14,000 square feet of dining.
The new dining area includes The Point, an 80-seat luxury restaurant adjacent to the new gaming floor. The Breezeway Cafe, located next to The Point, will accommodate an additional 130 seats for a casual fair. The Pirate's Food Cove will feature four venues, including an American menu, an Italian menu, an Asian menu, and Jake's Coffee House.
The Wheeling Island Racetrack and Gaming Center also announced details of its dynamic partnership with global entertainment giant Clear Channel Entertainment, which will schedule a show for its new 660-seat art showroom facility. "Working with Clear Channel Entertainment will improve our ability to offer our first alternative to those looking for entertainment in three-state locations," Cooper said in a statement. "Alongside our latest gaming, accommodation, and dining options, we're excited to offer our guests another quality entertainment product soon."
