The Tel Aviv Open, a tennis tour tournament scheduled for November in the Israeli capital of Tel Aviv, has been canceled due to the war between Israel and the Palestinian militant Hamas.
The Associated Press reported on the 15th (Korea Standard Time) that "In consideration of the safety of players and fans, the men's professional tennis (ATP) decided to cancel the Tel Aviv Open after consultation with security experts." The competition was scheduled to take place next month.

Novak Djokovic (1st place, Serbia) won the tournament last year. He won the final against Marin Cilic (441st, Croatia).

"We strongly condemn all forms of terrorism and mourn the loss of innocent lives in this conflict," ATP President Andrea Gaudenzi said. He added, "I hope and pray for peace in the region."

Israel and Hamas, as is well known, are currently at war. The war, which began in the wake of Hamas' surprise attack on Israel, has caused enormous casualties, with more than 10,000 casualties so far.
