Former major leaguer Jung Ho Kang makes a one-handed catch of a foul ball that flew into the stands during the game between the Pittsburgh Pirates and the San Diego Padres at Petco Park in San Diego, California, U.S., on April 25.

Kang Jeong-ho (36), a former KBO and Major League Baseball (MLB) player for the Pittsburgh Pirates, catches a foul ball with his bare hands during the game between the San Diego Padres and Pittsburgh.

Kang was spotted in the stands during the 2023 Major League Baseball (MLB) game between the San Diego Padres and Pittsburgh at Petco Park in San Diego, California, U.S., on July 25.

During the game, a foul ball was hit, and a spectator jumped up and caught the ball with his left hand.

The crowd around him applauded his 'bare-handed catch'.

Local media outlets later confirmed his presence. One of the broadcasters commented, "Look at this fan. Doesn't he look like a baseball player?" and then laughed, "This is Jung-ho Kang, who played for Pittsburgh."

American sports publication The Athletic also shared the news on its social media accounts, capturing a video of Kang catching the ball.

Meanwhile, Kang began his professional career with the Hyundai Unicorns in 2006, then moved on to the Nexen Heroes (now Kiwoom) before making his way to Pittsburgh in 2015.

After a successful career in the MLB, Kang left the big leagues in 2019 after being caught driving under the influence of alcohol.

Last year, Kang attempted to return to the KBO through the Kiwoom organization, but was met with strong public opposition and was effectively retired.

Kang, who currently runs a baseball academy in California, USA, came to the stadium to support his former teammate Kim Ha-seong, who played for the Heroes.

Meanwhile, Kim hit a multi-homer game on the day, extending his MLB record to 14 home runs for the season. 스포츠토토 Pittsburgh's Korean slugger, Choi Ji-Man, was absent.
