Dark clouds have been cast on South Korea's early confirmation of the round of 16 at the 2023 Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Asian Cup, led by head coach Jürgen Klinsmann (Germany). Son Heung-min (Tottenham) scored the first goal with a penalty kick, but Park Yong-woo (Al-Ain)'s own goal and opponent's goal are losing ground.

Klinsmann is playing his second Group E match against Jordan at Altumama Stadium in Doha, Qatar at 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday. He is trailing 1-2 as of the end of the first half.

South Korea won 3-1 against Bahrain on the 15th, and Jordan also won 4-0 against Malaysia led by head coach Kim Pan-gon.

As a result, the match on this day virtually confirmed the lead of the group.

As it is a game to compete for the top spot in the group with an early round of 16, coach Klinsmann operated his best.

The starting list was the same as against Bahrain except that Cho Hyun-woo (Ulsan HD) played in place of Kim Seung-gyu (Al-Shabab), the main goalkeeper who was eliminated due to an injury during training on the 18th.

Cho Kyu-sung (Mit Whelan) was placed at the front line, and Son Heung-min, Lee Jae-sung (Mainz) and Lee Kang-in (Paris Saint-Germain) were placed in the second line.

Hwang In-beom (Zvezda) and Park Yong-woo were named in the midfield, and the back four line was built by Lee Ki-je (Suwon Samsung), Kim Min-jae (Bayern Munich), Jung Seung-hyun, and Seol Young-woo (Ulsan).

South Korea had an aggressive operation from the start and had a good chance at the beginning of the game.

Lee Kang-in, who received a pass from Seol Young-woo in the 3rd minute of the first half, finished with a left-footed shot, but the zero point was not accurate.

He immediately got a chance to score the first goal. Son Heung-min, who received Hwang In-beom's pass in the fourth minute of the first half, was fouled by Essan Haddad while rushing into the opponent's box.

The referee declared a penalty kick after reviewing VAR (video reading system) on-field. Son Heung-min, who played as a kicker in the 9th minute of the first half, calmly finished and broke the balance of the game.

After doing his signature "click ceremony," Son ran to a technical area. After receiving Kim's uniform from a team staff member, he waved his uniform. As a celebration, he cheered for Kim who failed to pass due to injury.

According to AFC officials, Son's goal was his 50th in the tournament.

South Korea, which took the lead, continued to operate aggressively to score additional goals.

Son Heung-min, who received Hwang In-beom's pass in the 13th minute of the first half, attempted a left-footed kick shot near the right side of the opponent's box, but it was far from the net.

Son Heung-min created another good opportunity. In the 20th minute of the first half, the ball was connected to Son Heung-min, who was penetrating into the box in the process of development leading to Lee Kang-in and Lee Jae-sung. Son Heung-min finished it with a left-footed shot, but it was deflected off the opponent's defense.

Jordan, which has overcome the crisis, also aimed for South Korea's net.

In the 21st minute of the first half, Musa Altamari hit a left-footed shot, but it was blocked by Cho Hyun-woo's defense. Yazan Al-Naimat connected the ensuing corner kick with a header, but it headed over the net.

Jordan's attack continued. In the 27th minute of the first half, Hwang In-beom committed a foul while blocking Altamari and received a yellow card. Altamari kicked the free kick he got near the box, but was blocked by Cho Hyun-woo.

In the end, he allowed Jordan to score an equalizer. In the 37th minute of the first half, Park scored an own goal with a header while handling a corner kick.

Since then, Korea has tried to score a leading goal again. In the 41st minute of the first half, Cho Gyu-seong drew a foul in front of the opponent's penalty box and won a free kick. Son Heung-min, who played as a kicker, shot but headed toward the side of the net.

He was given eight minutes of extra time. Cho Gyu-seong attempted a goal by hitting a shot in the 47th minute of the first half, but Korea failed to score a goal.

Unlike South Korea, where the zero is not accurate, Jordan finished the opportunity with a goal. In the 51st minute of the first half, Al-Naimat scored a come-from-behind goal, ending the first half with Jordan ahead. 안전놀이터
