Son Heung-min signed a 5-year contract extension with Adidas.

Korean soccer icon Son Heung-min (Tottenham) extended his contract with global sports brand Adidas for five years.

Adidas announced on the 19th, “We will continue our partnership with Son Heung-min, who has been with us since our time in Hamburg (Germany) in 2008, until July 2028.”

Numerous brands are signing sponsorship contracts with world-class soccer players, but sponsorship contracts lasting more than 20 years are rare.

Adidas said, “It is very rare for active players like Lionel Messi (Inter Miami) and Cristiano Ronaldo (Al-Nasr) to sign sponsorship contracts with sports brands for more than 20 years,” and added, “With this extension contract, Son Heung-min was named as one of Adidas' first long-term contractees. “This is clear recognition that he is a world-class player,” he explained.

The sponsorship contract amount was not disclosed, but it is known to be the highest ever for an Asian player.

So far, Adidas has been sincere toward Son Heung-min. Adidas is promoting Son Heung-min as a global model, and used him as a model along with Messi when unveiling the official ball for the 2022 Qatar World Cup. Additionally, last July, he became the first Asian player to release limited edition soccer shoes.

Son Heung-min said, “I am very happy to be with Adidas, which has given me unwavering support and enthusiastic support for the past 15 years, for another 5 years. “I look forward to running toward a greater future with Adidas at this important time when we need to move toward new goals once again,” he said. 19가이드03
