Park Hye-jung roars into a new Korean record
In the 104th National Sports Festival weightlifting women's general division 87kg final held at the Wando Farmers and Fishermen Culture and Sports Center in Jeollanam-do on the 17th, Park Hye-jeong (Goyang City Hall) challenged a new Korean record of 170kg in the third period of clean and jerk. 'Post Jang Mi-ran' Park Hye-jeong (20, Goyang City Hall) was selected as the best athlete in the women's division in 2023 by the Korea Weightlifting Federation.
The men's best player award goes to Lee Sang-yeon (28, Suwon City Hall).
On the 13th, the Korea Weightlifting Federation announced the selection of excellent athletes, organizations, and people of merit for 2023.
The awards ceremony will be held at the Olympic Parktel in Bangi-dong, Songpa-gu, Seoul on the afternoon of the 14th.
Last year, Park Hye-jung won the world championships in September and the women's heaviest weight class (over 87 kg) at the Asian Games in October.
It has been 13 years since Jang Mi-ran (currently Vice Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism) won the gold medal in the women's heaviest weight class (over 75 kg at the time) at the 2010 Guangzhou Games for a Korean athlete to win the weightlifting event at the Asian Games.
Park Hye-jung, who received the Women's Outstanding Athlete Award from the Korea Weightlifting Federation in 2022, was selected as the Best Athlete in 2023.
Lee Sang-yeon, who won a bronze medal in the men's 67kg class at the Hangzhou Asian Games and a bronze medal in the clean and jerk at the World Championships (5th overall), was selected as the best athlete in the men's division.
The Outstanding Player Award went to Won Jong-beom (Gangwon Provincial Office) and Yoon Ha-je (Gimhae City Hall), and the Rookie Player Award went to Kwon Dae-hee (Daegu Physical Education High School) and Han Ji-hye (Gyeongbuk Development Corporation). 스포츠토토맨
