"I'm not satisfied"
Shohei Ohtani (29, Los Angeles Angels) has won 10 games this season, becoming the first pitcher in Major League Baseball (MLB) history to record double-digit wins and home runs in back-to-back seasons.
Ohtani pitched six innings of three-hit ball, 토토 allowing one run (unearned) on three hits with five strikeouts and no walks against the San Francisco Giants on Tuesday at Angel Stadium in Anaheim, California, USA.
The Angels rallied from a 1-0 deficit with four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to win 4-1, giving Ohtani his 10th win of the season (5-0). Ohtani lowered his ERA to 3.17.
This marks the second straight season that Ohtani has won double-digit games after going 15-9 last year. It's the first time since entering the majors in 2018 that Ohtani has won 10 games in back-to-back seasons.
It's also the second consecutive 10-win, 10-homer season for Ohtani, who hit 40 home runs this season. He drew 34 arches last year.
The 10-10 record in back-to-back seasons is the first in Major League Baseball history. The legendary Babe Ruth, who was also a two-hitter, had only one 10-10 season in 1918 (13-11).
After being pulled after four scoreless innings against the Seattle Mariners on April 4 due to finger cramps, Ohtani threw 97 pitches on the day and lasted until the sixth inning.
Ohtani got off to a shaky start.
In the top of the second inning, Ohtani gave up a leadoff double and a walk to put runners on first and third when catcher Matt Teixeira made a throwing error to cut down the runner at second. Ohtani then gave up a sacrifice fly to center field to Brandon Crawford for the first run of the game.
In the top of the third, 안전놀이터 Ohtani was hit by two pitches to put runners on second and third, but JD Davis struck out swinging to end the threat.
After getting over the hump, Ohtani pitched a clean fourth through sixth inning, allowing just one hit.
After being held scoreless through five innings, the Angels offense exploded in the bottom of the sixth to help Ohtani.
A Luis Renfroe double and an intentional walk to Ohtani put runners on first and second, and Brandon Drury singled to tie the game. Mike Moustakas then hit a sweeper off Tristan Beck for a three-run shot over the right field wall.
The Angels faced a bases-loaded jam in the top of the seventh when Jose Soriano, the second pitcher to come on after Ohtani, gave up two walks and a hit, but Soriano extinguished the flames himself by inducing a grounder to shortstop to Eloy Estrada.
Ohtani, batting second, went 2-for-2 with a walk, two strikeouts and one run scored. Ohtani's season batting average dropped to .306, but his on-base percentage rose to .410.
The Angels won two of three at home against San Francisco after dropping one, improving their record to 58-58 and restoring their five-game winning percentage, but they remain seven games behind the third American League wild card (Toronto Blue Jays-65-51) for the final postseason berth.
"I'm not satisfied with my pitching today," Ohtani said, despite the record-setting win.
Still, he remains hopeful for fall baseball. "I can't give up as long as we have a chance (to make the postseason). If we can extend our winning streak, we can increase our chances of making the postseason," 스포츠토토 he said.
