Real Madrid's plans to revamp their forward line have been outlined.
"Real are considering selling some players, including Hodriguez, 22, to raise funds before next June," Spanish outlet Defensa Central reported on June 1.
Hodriguez joined Real from Santos in 2019. Despite his young age, he was a highly anticipated signing for a record transfer fee of €45 million.
Since joining Real, he has been on a steep rise. Last season, he scored 19 goals and provided 11 assists in all competitions, cementing himself as the future of Real alongside Vinicius Junior.
This season has been a different story. Hodriguez has only scored two goals in 14 appearances this season, despite being given plenty of chances. 안전토토사이트
The problem is position. A winger until last season, Hodriguez has been playing up front alongside Vinicius since the departure of Karim Benzema this summer. It wasn't the right position for him.
Eventually, his frustration boiled over. "I have proven that I can play on the flanks," Hodriguez said in an interview. I don't like playing as a number nine. But at Real, I have to play that way," he said.
His future prospects are even worse. "If Kylian Mbappe joins next season, Hodriguez will end up on the bench," says Defensa Central.
There's even talk of a sale. According to the report, Real are considering selling Hodriguez for €70 million in order to balance their books ahead of Mbappe's arrival.
He's not the only player Real are considering selling. The club is also looking to sell surplus resources such as Per Mendy and Brahim Dias.
