The Baccarat event, held last Tuesday by Sands China Ltd Cotai Central Real Estate, set a Guinness World Record for the largest first-place prize in the history of the Baccarat tournament. The event was held at the Sheraton Macau Hotel and consisted of six top players who advanced to the final round with more than 100 competitors from all over the world.

The final six met to complete the competition to pay HK$100 million (about $12.9 million) to the first place. Not only did the tournament set a record for the largest Baccarat tournament prize money, but it also set a record for the largest prize pool ever (HK$129 million) by tournament type.

The event was organized by Macau casino junket investor Suncity Group, which said the overall winner, known as Lam of Hong Kong, outlived the field and was able to win a huge first-place prize. The tournament began with two qualifiers: one at Crowne Plaza Melbourne, located in Australia, and the second at Venetic Macao, Sand China. Then, Cotai real estate Galaxy Macao hosted the semifinals in Sheraton Macao.
