The Cordish Companies has officially opened Live! Casino & Hotel Philadelphia, a new worldwide destination for gaming, hotels, dining, and entertainment located in the heart of the Philadelphia Stadium District. The opening is another major milestone for the company as the next-generation Live! branded casino to open in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Live! Casino Pittsburgh opened in Hampfield Township, Pennsylvania, in November 2020.
Lead Cordycee, chief executive of the Cordyce Company, Rob Norton, chairman of the Cordycee Gaming Group, and Joe Billheimer, vice president, attended the ribbon cutting ceremony by Philadelphia City Councilman Kenyatta Johnson (2nd District) and numerous business, tourism and community leaders in the region.
The ceremony was hosted by Philadelphia fan favorite Ron Zawarski (former Philadelphia Eagles). Special guests included Philadelphia 76ers legend and basketball Hall of Fame player Julius "Dr. J" Erving, former Philadelphia Phillies manager Charlie Manuel, and former Eagles wide receiver Vince Papale. Guests were also delighted with the appearance of Philly Panatic, Pandemic Crew, and South Philadelphia String Band, the current Mums champion.
Together, the group ushered in a new era of entertainment in the city of Philadelphia by ringing a giant replica freedom bell and continuing fireworks.

As part of the company's ongoing commitment to the community, more than $50,000 was donated to local nonprofit organizations in Philadelphia, with proceeds from test nights held before the official opening. During the ceremony, checks were delivered to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Philadelphia, the Young Chance Foundation, Thomas & Woods Foundation, and Garces Foundation in Philadelphia.

Live! Casino & Hotel Philadelphia will generate more than $2 billion in stimulus checks with $100 million in tax revenues during its first five years of operation, including $25 million for the Philadelphia School District. The facility created more than 3,000 construction jobs during the development and will create up to 2,000 permanent jobs for the district and its residents.

In preparation for the opening, Live! has developed a comprehensive play-it-safe plan, an enhanced health and hygiene program that enables sufficient social distancing, job losses, and strong hygiene and health measures for all guests and team members.
A major component of the plan involves installing a state-of-the-art Atmos air bipolar air purification system within HVAC systems to treat and clean the air in facilities, including virus particulates. The system is designed to perform 12 air changes per hour across casino floors, more than double the frequency of most commercial buildings.
In addition, the unique reel clear slot management system ensures that every customer playing the slot machine is seated on the newly sanitized machine and also automatically socializes with the closest customer. The newly developed system can automatically shut down after the slot is played and only attendees can be reactivated after disinfection is complete. In addition, once players start playing the newly sanitized machine, the system will lock both machines to enforce social distancing in areas not protected by a plexiglass barrier.
