Incheon appoints Lim Joong yong, the new general manager of the club legend

Incheon United has appointed Lim Joong-yong, former head of the power reinforcement office, as its new general manager.

Lim Joong-yong, the new general manager, is a former legend of Incheon. He is evaluated as having many years of field experience and a high understanding of front desk work, as well as extensive knowledge and knowledge of soccer.

In addition, based on communication, it is evaluated that it has played a good role as a bridge between the front office, such as CEO Jeon Hae-soo, and the field, such as director Cho Sung-hwan.

Lim, who debuted in the K-League in 1999 and joined Incheon as a founding member in 2004, retired after serving as a strong supporter of his team for eight years until 2011. He played in 294 K-League matches with eight goals and five assists, and in 2005, as captain of his team, he helped Incheon rank No. 1 in the league and the runner-up in the playoffs for the first time in two years, making him one of the best 11 players in the K-League that year.

Immediately after his retirement in 2012, Lim went to study abroad to learn advanced soccer and trained as a leader for about 18 months at Werder Bremen, a prestigious German team. After returning to the Incheon club in 2013, he served as a coach for the youth team U-18 Daegeon High School until 2014, and the following year, he was appointed as a coach and worked hard to cultivate the underdeveloped situation until 2017. After that, he served as a coach for the professional team from 2017 to 2020, and when the coach was vacant in 2019 and 2020, he also served as an acting coach.

Lim, who started a new life of soccer as an administrator after being appointed as a technical director of Incheon from 2020, was appointed as the head of the club's power enhancement office in 2021. Since then, he has led the club's first Asian stage (AFC Champions League) with coach Cho Sung-hwan, and has made it to the Final A for the second consecutive year.

"Being the leader of the team for the first time in eight years, I feel a lot of pressure," Lim said. "Being the leader of the team I love is both happy and burdensome to do well. I will play the role of bridging the front desk and the field as I have done so far.
