Impact printers, as the name suggests, produce images by physically contacting the paper with the printing mechanism. In the 1970s and 1980s, impact printers were widely used. Dot Matrix printers print images by striking an ink-coated ribbon with a sequence of tiny pins.

Computerized typewriters, such as Character Printers, are another type of Impact Printer. As the ink is applied to the paper, a series of bars or a ball with genuine characters on them strikes on it. One character at a time can be printed. There are Daisy Wheel printers that employ either a metal or plastic wheel for printing. These printers, on the other hand, are only capable of printing characters or a single font type, and not visuals.

Line printers, which use a series of pins or characters to print a single line, are quick, but the print quality is poor. The printers in calculators and fax machines are known as "thermal printers" since that's all they are. They're cheap to use, so they're a good option. Thermal printers print by applying heat to a certain type of paper, according to Best wireless inkjet printers.

New Non-impact Technology printers have recently been released, which are more efficient and advanced than previous models.

Non-impact printers don't print anything because the printing motor never touches the paper. They are quieter than impact printers because of this.

Inkjet printers first appeared in the mid-1980s. So far, these printers have been the most popular and widely utilized. Inkjet printers ushered in a new era of color printing. To produce an image, the tiny nozzles in the head of an Inkjet printer spray a tiny droplet of ink onto the paper. A human hair's diameter is larger than the diameter of these dots. With a resolution of 1440x720 pixels per inch, these dots are extremely accurate. These printers are compatible with a variety of ink cartridges.
