The iconic El Cortez Hotel & Casino celebrated its historic 80th anniversary, cementing its role as Las Vegas' longest-running hotel casino. El Cortez began the evening with a special event where Mayor Goodman of Las Vegas awarded the El Cortez Hotel & Casino an official declaration and Key to the City.

Festivals continued with mariachi bands roaming throughout the evening, and a 9 p.m. fireworks show, started by owner, CEO, and chairman Kenny Epstein, pushed a button to mislead the city of Las Vegas. When the fireworks show ended, the general public was invited to the hotel lobby to enjoy free cakes and champagne, try table games and play with some of the city's last coin-input machines.
