Jürgen Klinsmann has won his first six games in charge of the South Korean men's national soccer team, but there is no shortage of criticism.

Klinsmann's men defeated Saudi Arabia 1-0 in an exhibition match in Newcastle, England, at 1:30 a.m. ET on Wednesday, 한국야동 thanks to a goal from Cho Kyu-sung (Meatwillan).

Klinsmann now has the distinction of being the longest coach to win his first game since the Korea Football Association introduced the full-time manager system in 1992.

◆Creaks and bumps from the start

As a player, Klinsmann was one of the best goalkeepers in Europe and beyond. However, he hasn't enjoyed the same level of fame since retiring.

He coached the German national team from 2004 to 2006, with a third-place finish at the 2006 World Cup on home soil being his only real accomplishment. Even then, he was criticized for not living in Germany and for his lack of detailed tactical skills.

He then moved on to Bayern Munich (Germany) before taking the helm of the U.S. National Team from 2011 to 2016. He won the 2013 North and Central American Gold Cup and reached the round of 16 at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, 성인웹툰 but was criticized for his lack of attention to detail.

The worst was when he took over as head coach of Hertha Berlin (Germany) in 2019. He had a falling out with the club upon his arrival and resigned after 77 days. He shocked the world when he announced on social media that he was stepping down.

From the time of his appointment, there were major concerns about his 'US residency', 'lack of responsibility', and 'lack of detail', which eventually became a reality. Six months after his appointment, Mr. Klinsmann is still facing controversy for his frequent traveling and working from home.

◆International OK but what about grades?

In response to the noise surrounding him, Klinsmann defined himself as an "international" through the media. The idea was to continue his work on the international stage to keep abreast of trends in world soccer, rather than to continue living in Korea because times have changed.

As he claims, Klinsmann's position as an international soccer influencer or ambassador is solid. As a world-class striker, he may be an idol to many.

But as a coach, it's a different story. He hasn't made his mark, and the team he's currently managing is in Asia, not the West, where he's usually based.

If he were attending an event in Asia, you might be able to rationalize it, but Klinsmann's appearances have been mostly in Europe, including the UEFA Champions League group stage draw.

It would have been understandable if he had made a little more concession and provided a clear direction and a solid performance, but even that was not the case. Comparisons to his predecessor, Paulo Bento of the United Arab Emirates, and the 'eternal rival' Japan are inevitable.

Upon his arrival in South Korea, Bento stayed in the country and tried to impose his style. Despite being labeled as 'stubborn' by fans and the media, he managed to achieve a second away round of 16 at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

Even before the World Cup, he had a clear idea of how he wanted to play soccer, even if the results didn't follow. However, Klinsmann's lack of tactical detail, relying on Son Heung-min (Tottenham Hotspur) in attack and Kim Min-jae (Bayern Munich) in defense, has been evident.

Not only is the strategy colorless, but the process and results are also poor. The comparison with rival Japan is even more disappointing. The Japanese have been progressing under Hajime Moriyasu, who did well at the Qatar tournament, while South Korea's negotiations with Bento broke down over differences of opinion.

Since then, Japan has been on a roll, winning both games and results, including a thrashing of Germany, while South Korea, under Klinsmann, has struggled against Wales, a 1.5-man team, and fans are growing increasingly angry.

◆He doesn't seem to have the will to fix it...the pressure is on for October.

Despite this situation, Klinsmann is still Maiwei. Cho Kyu-sung extinguished the flames with the game-winning goal against Saudi Arabia, but nothing has progressed.

According to the Korea Football Association, he will stay in Europe after the Saudi game to look at local players.

His schedule hasn't been finalized, but the general consensus is that he will spend some time inspecting the European squad before flying to South Korea later this month.

Rather than returning to Korea after a winless streak and overturning public opinion by inspecting the domestic squad, Klinsmann chose to observe the performance of the overseas players, who should be the main resources for the national team regardless of their performance. That's why the harsh criticism continues even after the first win.

The South Koreans immediately have another A match in October. They face Tunisia on the 13th, followed by Vietnam on the 17th. By the end of the month, the team will likely announce its roster in early October, meaning it will follow the same path as before.

Winning streaks against Tunisia and Vietnam are a given. 19가이드03 Anything less than a flawless performance and the pressure on Klinsmann will be at its peak in October.
