“I work harder at my studies just to play basketball.”

The Assist For Youth project is being carried out by Assist to develop Korean youth basketball starting in 2022. Seol Ji-won of Bundang Samsung, who is working on this project, is showing his special love for basketball with his silent leadership.

Seol Ji-won, who is currently in the 5th grade at Seoul International School (4th grade at an elementary school in Korea), is said to have started learning basketball since kindergarten while living in Shanghai. She tried other sports, but none appealed to Seol Ji-won more than basketball.

Seol Ji-won, who returned to Korea after living abroad and has been learning basketball at Bundang Samsung for the past two years, is currently playing as a forward on the fourth-grade national team at Bundang Samsung Elementary School. Seol Ji-won, who is evaluated as having excellent shooting ability and defensive skills, is building the trust of his teammates by quietly doing his part in his position.

Seol Ji-won said, "I learned basketball in Shanghai since kindergarten. Then, after entering Shanghai International School, I joined a basketball club in Shanghai and learned basketball. I also tried soccer, but it wasn't as fun as basketball. I'm not very good at basketball, but "I've been playing basketball consistently since kindergarten, so I think I'm getting better little by little," he said, giving a humble evaluation of his skills despite his young age.

Seol Ji-won, who gained a lot of experience by participating in overseas training and KBL youth basketball competitions held by Samsung in Bundang last year, said, “I gained great experience that I could not get anywhere else by training overseas and participating in KBL competitions where promising players from all over the country gather. Based on that experience, I think I was able to create an opportunity to improve a little more in the second half of this year. The coach also said, ‘If you work harder, you will get better,’ so I am constantly working to become a better player, and currently, I play 5 times a week. He said, “I am training by going to the gym,” and that he is actually devoting time to basketball five days a week to improve himself.
