Americans plan to bet $8.5 billion on this year's NCAA men's basketball tournament, with one in five adults betting, according to a new survey released today by the American Game Association.

The key findings of the Morning Consult survey include:

- 47 million Americans will bet $8.5 billion on March Madness;

- More than 40 million people will bet $4.6 billion on a group of 149 million;

- Nearly 18 million people will bet $3.9 billion on sportsbooks online, with bookies, or friends;
4.1 million people will bet using casino sportsbooks or legal apps;
2.4 million people will illegally bet with Bookie
5.2 million people will bet online at illegal sea sites.
- Multiple bettors were favored by Duke (29%) to win, followed by Gonzaga (9%), North Carolina (8%), Kentucky (7%), Virginia (5%) and Michigan (5%).

"During this year's tournament, the first in the U.S. since PASPA, sports fans are expected to bet 40 percent more than they did in this year's Super Bowl," said Bill Miller, AGA's president and CEO. "Unlike any other sporting event in the U.S., March Madness draws millions of people who draw brackets, make light bets with friends, or bet legal sportsbooks, and now Americans have more to do than ever."

Since the U.S. Supreme Court's ruling in May 2018, more than $5.9 billion has now been paid in legal and regulated sports betting in eight states, enabling consumer protection and generating valuable tax revenues for state, local and tribal governments across the country.

"These results indicate that there is still work to be done to eradicate the country's vast illicit sports betting market, and we are committed to ensuring that sound policies are in place to protect consumers like the 47 million Americans who will bet on March's frenzy," Miller added.  슬롯머신사이트
