A casino in suburban Philadelphia operated by Caesars Entertainment could be closed by the Pennsylvania gaming regulator after an adjacent harness racing track was shut down by state authorities.

Harrah's Philadelphia, located in Chester, Pennsylvania, about 20 miles south of downtown Philadelphia, operates as one of five state licensed racetrack casinos.

Last week, the Pennsylvania Harness Racing Board suspended Hara's activities in Philadelphia, saying it had failed to resolve issues with the track's surface. The track's 2014 racing season is scheduled to begin on March 8.

Under Pennsylvania law, racetrack casinos must maintain a "written live racing contract with the horse society" as a condition of game permits.

Pennsylvania Game Control Board spokesman Doug Habach told The Associated Press that the issue "will continue to be closely monitored."

Caesars Entertainment Senior Vice President Jan Jones said in an email late Sunday that "this issue will be resolved."

Harrah's Philadelphia operates as part of Caesars Entertainment's Eastern Division, along with the company's four Atlantic City casinos. In 2013, the casino raised $310.87 million in gaming revenue, the fourth highest among Pennsylvania's 12 casinos.

According to the AP, state racing regulators said Hara's Philadelphia has not repeatedly told them how it plans to address the track issue. 슬롯

Drivers have been complaining about the condition of the track, especially after a serious crash in November in which a driver was pummeled and trampled by another horse.

The harness racing board, which is part of the agriculture department, has issued an order suspending Hara's 2014 race schedule until the track complies with its information requirements.

Earlier this month, the state gaming regulator fined Hara's Philadelphia $90,000 for two different violations.
