Trisha filmography

Trisha is an Indian actress and model active primarily in Tamil and Telugu films. She was first seen in an uncredited role in Jodi, then in Falguni Pathak's music video "Meri Chunar Udd Udd Jaye". The first project she accepted as a lead actress was Priyadarshan's Lesa Lesa, but that film's delay meant that her first release as a lead actress was Ameer's directorial debut Mounam Pesiyadhe in 2002. The film was commercially successful. The following year, she appeared in Manasellam as a terminally ill woman. It was a commercial failure.

Trisha's subsequent release was Hari's action film, Saamy. She played a soft-spoken Brahmin girl and was praised for her performance. The film became a major commercial success, and landed Trisha new offers, including several high-budget productions. Lesa Lesa, which was supposed to be her debut, released next. The romantic musical, based on the 1998 Malayalam film Summer in Bethlehem, fetched her the ITFA Best New Actress Award. Following Lesa Lesa, she appeared in Alai which proved unsuccessful at the box office. Then released her Enakku 20 Unakku 18 which was unsuccessful commercially but helped her career. She made her debut in Telugu cinema the same year with that film's Telugu version Nee Manasu Naaku Telusu, not successful either. Her next Telugu release Varsham (2004) was a major success, and won her the Filmfare Best Actress Award (Telugu). It also paved way for her receiving more offers in Telugu cinema.

Later that year, Trisha appeared in the action film Ghilli as a helpless girl, whom a Kabaddi player tries to save from a corrupt politician, who wants to marry her. It was a major commercial success. She next appeared in Mani Ratnam's political drama Aaytha Ezhuthu, starring as part of an ensemble cast that included Siddharth, R. Madhavan and Suriya. The Telugu romantic comedy Nuvvostanante Nenoddantana featured Trisha as a village girl and was a commercial success; it helped her earn her second consecutive Filmfare Award and her first Nandi Award for acting. She reprised the role in its Tamil remake Something Something... Unakkum Enakkum, which was also successful. Selvaraghavan's Aadavari Matalaku Arthale Verule (2007) won Trisha her third Filmfare Award. The same year she appeared in A. L. Vijay's Kireedam (2007), a box office success. In 2008, her releases Bheemaa and Kuruvi failed commercially, while her performance in Abhiyum Naanum and Krishna earned her Filmfare nominations for Best Actress in the Tamil and Telugu categories respectively.

Trisha had two releases in 2009: Sarvam and Sankham. The former was commercially unsuccessful, and the latter was critically derided. The following year, she appeared as a Syrian Christian in Gautham Menon's romance Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa. It was a major commercial success and, apart from being a breakthrough in her career, earned her a Filmfare nomination. The same year she made her Hindi debut with Khatta Meetha. Although a critical and commercial failure, it earned her a Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut nomination. Her sole Telugu release that year was Namo Venkatesa. Both her 2011 releases - Teen Maar and Mankatha - were successful. She had two releases in 2012: Bodyguard (a Telugu remake of the 2010 same-titled Malayalam film) and Dammu, and two Tamil releases in 2013: the mystery thriller Samar, and Endrendrum Punnagai which earned her a Filmfare nomination. Her releases in 2015 included the crime film Yennai Arindhaal, the comedy Sakalakala Vallavan, the Tamil-Telugu bilingual Thoongaa Vanam / Cheekati Rajyam, and the sports drama Bhooloham.
