TripTern is a social travel site which creates trip itineraries from the destination, hotel, dates, and attractions that the user is interested in. The site currently is in beta with approximately 6,000 users as of January 10, 2013.
Usage
The application is available online as a web application. The user will input their destination and preferred hotel, along with dates and possible attractions they would like to see. Trip Tern currently offers 40 destination cities, but plans to expand into more cities in Europe, North America, and South America.
While users can not book hotels directly from the application, Trip Tern plans to add this option in the future. The application will output an itinerary combining the information, along with a map.
The website also provides travel guides for popular cities that are able to be shared with popular social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter.
As the user visits new destinations from the Trip Tern destination list, the user builds a collection of trips with photos sharable with friends. A mobile app is also planned, allowing users to access the application's features while on the go.
