Trevor Beattie (CEO)

Trevor Beattie is currently Chief Executive of the South Downs National Park and is one of the 12 independent governors of the University of Brighton.

Early life and education

Beattie grew up in West Sussex. He studied a dual honours degree of Economics and Politics at the University of Bristol.

Career

Beattie led the team which created the Homes and Communities Agency in 2008 whilst working under the then chief executive, Lord Kerslake. Since leaving the agency he has chaired the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors' Land and Society Commission, which in May 2011 published a report into how the property industry should operate under localism. He has also written a book on the diaries of his father Reginald Beattie's experiences as a prisoner of war, called Captive Plans (ISBN 978-0956956309).

Personal life

Beattie now lives in Hove. He has one of the largest collections of magic lanterns and magic lantern slides within the UK, with a collection of Woobury types, and often gives magic lantern shows in Sussex.
