Transformers Animated is an American/Japanese animated series which has an associated toy line released in 2008 by Hasbro internationally and in 2010 by Takara Tomy in Japan.

Contents

Much like the TV series, this toy line is unique for its cartoonish designs. In keeping with the animated theme, each figure is molded and/or painted in a matte finish, as opposed to figures of other Transformers lines using gloss finishes. Metallic paints are also used sparingly on most figures. The only exception to this rule is Leader Class Ultra Magnus, who uses gloss black on some body panels. The Japanese release versions of nearly all the toys, however, are painted in a metallic finish.

List guide

  • Figures sold in Japan are given catalog numbers. Figures without catalog numbers are not available in the Japanese market.
  • The figures come in different size classes:
  • Legends (EZ Collection in Japan) - The smallest size class, standing at roughly 3 inches in robot mode height. Usually bundled in gift sets or offered as a promotional gift.
  • Activators - Each figure stands at approximately 4 inches in height and features near-instant transformation at the push of a button.
  • Deluxe - The bulk of the toy line's catalog. Each figure stands at roughly 5 to 7 inches tall and features medium level transformation and exceptional articulation.
  • Voyager - Larger-sized figures that feature more articulation and advanced transformation. Some figures have an "Automorph" feature, which enables parts to automatically move during transformation.
  • Leader - Larger-sized figures standing at approximately 9 inches in robot mode height. Each figure features light and sound effects, along with heads that change facial expressions.
  • Supreme - The largest size class, standing at 13 inches. Features a near-automatic transformation and semi-animatronic sound and motion effects.
  • Bumper Battlers - Toy cars designed for younger children, featuring pull-back motion and light and sound effects. When the car bumps an object, its top portion pops open, revealing its robot mode.
  • Power Bots - Non-transforming robot toys standing at over 9 inches in height and designed for younger children. Each figure features light and sound effects.
  • Release Status indicates the figure's availability:
  • General indicates that the figure was released at all toy, hobby and department stores.
  • Store exclusives mean that the figure was sold only on a specific chain such as Target or Toys "R" Us.
  • Some figures never made it past the prototype stage and remain unreleased, while others have become available exclusively in Japan.
  • Other toys

  • Megatron Battle Blaster (Unreleased) - A toy weapon that the user can wear around their arm. Transforms from Megatron's gunship mode to robot fist with blaster weapon.
  • Optimus Prime Battle Blaster - A toy weapon that the user can wear around their arm. Transforms from Optimus Prime's truck mode to robot fist with blaster weapon.
