Trac (stylized as trac) is a Welsh folk development organisation and registered charity that promotes and develops the music and dance traditions of Wales, both within Wales and beyond. Activities include providing training for performers, and promoting Welsh traditional music and artists in London and abroad. It has a training programme for traditional music performers who wish to become folk music workshop tutors. Trac is supported by the Arts Council of Wales. trac was founded by Phil Freeman, Ceri Rhys Matthews of Fernhill, Stephen Rees, and Danny KilBride.
Its board of trustees is chaired by Professor James Blythe. Other board members include Eiry Palfrey, Meurig Williams, Marlene Davies, Terry Duffy, Keith Floyd, Francis Brown and Elliw Iwan. Its patrons include Kevin Brennan MP, musician and activist Dafydd Iwan, songwriter and broadcaster Frank Hennessy and broadcaster Huw Stephens.
Trac has a full-time team of three: Director Danny KilBride, Manager Blanche Rowen, and Project Officer Angharad Jenkins.
Constitution
Trac is a registered charity and Company Limited by Guarantee. Its Charity Number is 1085422, and its Company Number is 4106014. Its legal name is Trac: Music Traditions Wales Ltd., or in Welsh Traddodiadau Cerdd Cymru. It is not a membership organisation but is governed by memorandum and articles.
