As of May 2015, the city had an estimated population of 69,511 and a population density of 2,990 persons per km². The total area was 23.22 square kilometres (8.97 sq mi).

History

The area of modern Toyoake was part of Owari Province and was the location of many battles during the Sengoku period. In the cadastral reforms of 1888, Toyoake Village was created within Aichi District. Toyoake became a town on January 1, 1951, and was elevated to city status on August 1, 1982.
