Early / Provincial Career

Banks attended school at Brisbane Boys' College during which time he represented Queensland at schoolboy level in 2011 and 2012. He moved on to play for the University of Queensland in the Queensland Premier Rugby competition from 2013. 2015 saw him turn out 6 times for Queensland Country in the National Rugby Championship.

Super Rugby Career

In 2014, Banks played for the Queensland Reds at under-20 level and was also a member of their wider training squad. He didn't make the senior squad for the following season, but did manage to earn his first cap as a substitute in a match against the Brumbies at Suncorp Stadium. That would be his only action that year and he again missed out on selection for the Reds 2016 Super Rugby squad. Despite this, he picked up a second Super Rugby cap in the final match of the 2016 season against the Rebels.
