Gokul or Tiruvaaippadi is one of the "Divya Desams", the 108 temples of Vishnu revered by the 12 poet saints, or Alwars. located in Gokul in Mathura district in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. It is located 15 km south-east of Mathura. It was the site of Krishnas childhood past-times.

In Vedic Scripture

Lord Krishna, who spent his childhood days in Gokul dances over the subdued Kaliya Naag in river Yamuna, while seen on the banks are people of Gokula, Krishna's father Nanda Baba and his brother Balarama. The Aichar Kuruvai chapter describes the event. The association of Nappinnai, the beloved shepherd girl with Krishna is peculiar to Tamil tradition like the huntress Valli with Lord Muruga. According to some scholars, the Radha cult of later times was close to the ancient Nappinai cult of Tamil Nadu.
