'Tigisi in Numidia', was a town and episcopal see of the Roman province of Numidia in Roman North Africa..
Tigisis, identified as Ain el Bordj, Algeria was a fortified town of Numidia, in the neighborhood of Lambese and Thamagada.
Bishopric
The town of Tigisis was the seat of a bishopric during the Roman, Vandal and Byzantine era. The persecution under Diocletian appears to have reached its height in Tigisis during Feb. 304.
Although the diocese ceased to function in the early 7th century, it was reestablished in name in 1933, since which there have been four bishops.
