Threat assessment comprises strategies or pathways used to determine the credibility and seriousness of a potential threat, as well as the likelihood that it will be carried out in the future. Threat assessment is a violence prevention act that involves a) identifying the threats to commit violent act ,b)determining seriousness of threat , c)developing intervention plans that protect potential victims and address underlying problem that stimulated the threatening behaviour.

Areas of need

The schools, are the areas where threat assessment, is done to maintain schools safety. With implementation from professionals working to identify and help potential offenders. Guiding students, to overcome the risks of becoming victims of suicide, alcohol and drug use, physical abuse, dropping out, and criminal activity, due to underlying sources of their anger, hopelessness, or despair.
