Thomas Bere (1652–1725)

Thomas Bere (1652 – 22 June 1725) of Huntsham, near Tiverton, in Devon, was a long-serving Member of Parliament for Tiverton.

Biography

Thomas Bere (1652–1725)

He was the eldest son and heir of Thomas Bere (1631–1680) lord of the manor of Huntsham, Devon, by his first wife Margaret Davie, daughter of Sir John Davie, 1st Baronet. A Whig, he sat in Parliament for Tiverton, Devon, from 1690 until defeated at the general election in 1710. He was re-elected unopposed at the general elections of 1715 and 1722, and retained the seat until his death.
