The Year I Met You is Irish writer Cecelia Ahern's twelfth novel, published by HarperCollins on 9 October 2014

Plot Summary

Workaholic Jasmine Butler's life was built around two things– her career and her beloved sister Heather, but when she gets fired Jasmine is forced on a one year gardening leave. With nothing to do, Jasmine finds herself constantly observing her neighbour across the street, Matt Marshall; a shock jock DJ whom she has despised ever since he hosted an insensitive show around Down syndrome, a topic close to her heart as her own sister has it and she is the most important person in Jasmine's life. When Matt is suspended from work due to a fiasco at the radio station and his wife leaves him due to his alcohol problems, Jasmine ends up with his spare key which was given to her by his wife. In order to give herself something to do, Jasmine decides to fix up her garden which she has neglected for the past four years and had it replaced with cobble-locking. As time passes, Jasmine and Matt are able to put aside their differences and become friends.
