The wilmette theatre

Opened in 1913, the Wilmette Theatre is a historic landmark movie theater for the village of Wilmette, Illinois. People could go there to watch films for 10 cents a ticket. Around 1950, EBF (Encyclopædia Britannica Films) bought the building. In 1966 Richard Stern bought the Theatre from EBF, and operated it for 40 years.

In 2006, the Wilmette Theatre was about to be turned into furniture, when two local families bought it. Since then, they have done many refurbishing since the purchase. Recently, their kickstarter project to get another digital projector was successful. Now the theatre is beginning to show current movies, as well as old classics. They also show a lot of independent films.

Upstairs at the Wilmette Theatre, they have the famous Actors Training Center (ATC). Many famous students have come from ATC. ATC uses the theatre's 2nd theatre for their plays and musicals, performed by their Repertory Company.
