26 August 1972 - James Carlin and Martin Curran, both Catholic members of the Provisional Irish Republican Army, were killed in a premature bomb explosion at the racecourse grandstand, Downpatrick.
1983
6 October 1983 - William Finlay (55) and James Ferguson (53), both Protestant members of the Royal Ulster Constabulary, were shot dead by the Provisional Irish Republican Army while on foot patrol in Meadowlands, Downpatrick.
1990
9 April 1990 - John Birch (28), Steven Smart (23), Michael Adams (23) and John Bradley (25), all Protestant members of the Ulster Defence Regiment, were killed in a Provisional Irish Republican Army land mine attack on their mobile patrol, Ballydugan Road, Downpatrick.
