The Purple Alliance

The Purple Alliance is made up of a group of Singaporeans committed to supporting LGBTQ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Questioning/Queer) individuals. The alliance coordinates social events, form partnerships with stakeholders, conduct educational outreach and provide health assistance. They seek to develop the community’s talents, advocating responsibility and promoting understanding. The alliance supports academic research concerning LGBTQ issues in Singapore, provides high-quality resources, and works with external groups and interested individuals on projects that support the dignity of LGBTQ individuals and that nurture positive relations with the public. They believe that trained, qualified personnel should run their activities so as to ensure legitimacy, participant safety and programme sustainability. For instance, all volunteers in the Verify programme are trained in health and human sexuality.
