The Peace of Amiens (French: La Paix d'Amiens) is a painting by Jules-Claude Ziegler, from 1853.

History

The Second Coalition against France had failed. Peace negotiations began in London, with a signing of a peace treaty in Amiens, on March 25, 1802. It was a temporary peace in the Napoleonic Wars.

Analysis

Napoleon III commissioned Ziegler as a part of his peace offensive. "The Empire means peace" ("L'Empire, c'est la paix")
